Happy day-before-Thanksgiving, all!

We just finished recording our last podcast for the week, and it's a doozy!  We kind of get off to a bumpy start, as Sarah has had far too much sleep and Greg decided to drink himself into an oblivion the night before, but we still brought it!  Today we speak of horrific dreams, Courtney Love, Thanksgiving plans, Montana, Bremerton (and Bremelo's), pizza, Twilight, beer, our article in the Willamette week (woo!), and stories of being abandoned on the side of the road... or at a gas station.  Ah, young love.  Plus, a brand-new ball talk and speaks of what's coming up in the week ahead - it's going to be a good one!

DRUNK DIAL: Two employees fired in KUFO’s Radio Black Friday last month have bounced back faster than even they expected. Two weeks ago, former Rick Emerson Show staffers Sarah X. Dylan and Greg Nibler each cracked open a can of Mickeys and debuted their new drinking/talking project Funemployment Radio (funemploymentradio.com), a free, daily podcast featuring everything from live karaoke and bitching about their lack of health insurance to an interview with Meatloaf. By Monday, Nov. 23, it had reached the top 20 on iTunes Comedy audio podcasts—beating out more than 6,000 other comedy podcasts on the site. The duo seem as surprised as anybody when it comes to the quick recognition of their boozy—still unpaid—efforts. “I think it’s the name that initially gets [people] interested, and once we get them to listen they enjoy it,” says Dylan. “Greg and I are making the most of what should be a depressing situation. I think people want to know that it’s not the end of the world if you lose your job.”

Today was kind of a shit-show; we got a late start, but grabbed our footing quickly as we talked about our previous nights escapades, among other compelling topics. We were a bit at odds today, so listen to our awkwardness as we wade through Meat Loaf stories and pizza dilemmas.... Oh yes, it's quite the exciting time here! There's a brand new ball-talk, entertainment news, and a pretty awesome karaoke song that I think we actually sounded kinda decent in! Okay, we're off to drink malt liquor and look for jobs :)

Happy....Monday? Yes, it's Monday! Geez, days get confusing.

Anyway, hope you all had fantastical weekends (we did, but then again having no job makes everyday feel like Saturday!), and we've got a brand new podcast up for your enjoyment today! What we would NOT like you to do is submit the feed to the iTunes Store itself. (don’t worry, it's a completely different thing from the directions above, there's no way to accidentally do it) We're already working with them and if someone were to try to work with them on our behalf, it would confuse things. Funemployment Radio Begins!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the first edition of Funemployment Radio!

As many of us are now fully aware, being unemployed can sometimes get a bit......boring.


Yes, it's kind of rad to get to sit around and do nothing (I mean, rabidly look for jobs) and get paid for it, but when you're used to doing something on a daily basis you can get a bit stircrazy trying to figure out the next move. That is what numerous folks deal with on a day to day basis, including ourselves. We also have another problem, which many, many other radio bretheren suffer from, which can only be summed up as: Microphone Addiction. Yes, we suffer from it, so much so that Nibler actually converted his spare bedroom-slash-office into a............ podcasting studio!!! Yes, my friends, we have been podcasting for a few days to occupy our time while we wait patiently for the next installment of The Rick Emerson Show to return. This isn't some spin-off of The Rick Emerson Show (please no comparisons to Joey), it's just a daily conversation between the two of us, while we imbibe Mickey's malt liquor and talk about being unemployed - with some Ball Talk, music & pop culture news, soundbites, and chatter about our lives as unemployed "Broadcast Professionals" thrown into the mix. There is a bit of drinking, a bit of profanity, and a bit of...shall we say... crazy, but it's a hell of a lot of fun to be in a (make-shift) studio again!
